What is a Background Color Remover?

A Background Color Remover is a digital utility that scans an image for a specific target color (often a solid white background or a green screen) and converts those specific pixels into transparent pixels. The result is an image with an Alpha channel, which can be saved as a PNG or WebP and overlaid onto other backgrounds.

Tolerance and Fringing

Real-world images rarely have perfectly flat backgrounds because of JPEG compression artifacts, anti-aliasing, and shadows. The Tolerance slider lets you tell the tool to also remove colors that are *very similar* to the target color you selected. If your image has a "halo" effect (fringing) around the subject, slowly increase the tolerance.
